How To Build Confidence in the Positives is a short, self-esteem post to help you boost your confidence in the good things in life. Are you someone who can’t enjoy the good things in your life because you’re constantly looking out for the negative pay-back you’ll get from that enjoyment?

Are you able to enjoy your vacation? Do you always worry about what’s going to happen at home once your vacation is over?

Do you sometimes worry about having good things happen to you because you’re preparing for the negative back-lash which will come after? Are you in effect caught in a self-doubt trap?

Is you confidence  in the positives life gives you so low that you stop yourself from enjoying them?

Do you feel ill when life is going your way? Are you today worrying about negative things that will never happen, ‘just so you’ll be prepared for them if they do happen?

You’ve obviously got no confidence in positives of life. You like being ‘kept on your toes’ with worry or stress. You won’t enjoy life because you’re scared that your enjoyment will somehow bring pain in the end as a payback. Here are some ways to build confidence in the positives.

how-to-build-confidence-in-positives

In the picture above, what you see is how you look at it and what your brain is telling you at that particular time. Do you see a white vase or two shadowed faces? This is what your confidence in positives is like.

Confidence is said to be like a memory muscle. The more you use it, the stronger and sharper it gets. Use this muscle to change your thinking to become the person who can enjoy the good and positives in life.

1. Remember that when bad things happen it’s not because of the good you enjoyed. Bad things happen to everyone.

2. If you think of negative things as life’s lessons to make us stronger, you’ll be less scared of them because you’ll know that when they come along, you have enough in your arsenal to deal with them.

3. Negative things will come and go. You’ve dealt with them before. They always pass and you always get on with life after they’re gone.

4. On the flip side, when life is going well, have confidence that you deserve it. Worrying about things that may never happen impedes your enjoyment of now, of your blessings, of your life, and sometimes, even of your family’s enjoyment.

5. As a Christian, I believe that God is always on my side. He’ll let me have my fun. He’ll give me blessings He knows I’ll enjoy, and in hard times He’ll fight my corner. If he’s fighting my corner, there’s no need to be afraid. If you believe in God you have to believe He’s more powerful than any negative thing you can and will ever deal with!

This was meant to be a short, 500 word post, so I won’t go on. Please share with us your ways of dealing with fear of negatives. Do you suffer from any of the feelings above? What do you do to cope with them? If you enjoyed, ‘How To Build Confidence In Positives’ please share it on your social networking sites and with your friends. Thank you.

    Hi Anne,

This is a great post, indeed.

I really liked the point you made about confidence being like a memory muscle. This is a great way to explain to someone who is pessimistic that they can’t increase their confidence. If we workout then we are strengthening our muscles. In the say way, as you said, we can strengthen our memory muscles to increase our confidence.

Indeed, for my personally, religion and spirituality are the most powerful resources to increase my confidence and reduce anxiety.

Well said, Hiten. That’s exactly what I had in mind with the reference. We can’t build muscles without a lot of hard work and many times, pain too. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

  5. This is a great post. I too try and inspire others to look at the positive side of life. However, sometimes you just can’t change people and they enjoy living in their own misery. I’m so glad that there are people out there like myself that are living a more positive and uplifting life to spread to others. I love being a mentor and coach and loving seeing the good side of people. That’s what it’s all about. Thank you for posting! Totally goes hand in hand with being a Beachbody coach and i wouldn’t have it any other way. This was very well written and will inspire so many.

Hi Marlena, Thanks for stopping by. Good for you to try and inspire others. The world needs more people like you – not the tons of nay sayers and people who try to bring down others.

    Hey Anne,

Post doesn’t always have to be long and thoughtful. They say that saying a little is saying a lot. This was a great reminder for me to know that everyone faces negativity in their life, and it’s unavoidable.

    I love this quote:

“I am too positive to be doubtful. Too optimistic to be fearful. And too determined to be defeated.”

Thank you for sharing this with us. Everything we do in life is a challenge because in most cases we are striving to get a good result at the end of the day. Unfortunately we always encounter competition from others and to be able to compete well with fellow competitors we need the confidence and in this article I have found what I this is the secret to achieving this confidence.
But at the end of the day it all comes down to how we perceive things and for this reason we must have positivity in our perception and drop that pessimistic behavior that some people have whenever they are faced with challenges or obstacles.

    • Anne says:

Positivity in our perception is key, Bradley. You’re so right. This is the reason not all poor people are unhappy and not all rich people are satisfied. Confidence and positivity has nothing to do with what we have, and all to do with how we see ourselves and the situations life throws at us.

I really enjoyed your post. I have found that through prayer I find confidence. I am a Christian and follow a well known acronym P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens). I will find myself actually saying Push Until Something Happens. A really good friend of mine once told me that when things are not going my way, to keep pressing forward. That can do with confidence as well. Whether someone is going on a date or job interview it boils down to one’s mindset. Prayer can help prepare someone for the largest of battles. In the words of Winston Churchill – ‘Never, never, never give up.’

    Great article!
My advice for everyone is to remember that all problems and worries are the product of our minds. Do not believe the voice in your had, he makes the problem in your life. Try to meditate and you will realize that all worries can be solved just by realizing that those are the product of your mind.

  22. I love your blogs! I truly enjoyed reading them. I have a personal experience going on a vacation and being afraid that my enjoyment would be paid with sadness when I get home. Thinking that might happen, I didn’t get the chance to enjoy that vacation. It is really true in my case that i got ill after receiving an unfortunate news. Three years ago I got a high paying job, I enjoyed it so much and it sustain the living of my family. But after enjoying the fruits of my labor for almost a year, for any reason my superior shut down the company permanently. That incident almost killed me. I got frustrated and I almost reach to the point of depression. I finally cope those negativity after 3 months and God help me to do so. I always pray to him to heal my soul and I got read many books on coping up. Now I can say I am finally recovered from that incident. Thanks for my faith and the goodness of my almighty father.
