Get Confident! Wake Up and Live is based on one of Bob Marley’s popular songs, ‘Wake Up And Live’. I’ve always been very inspired by Bob Marley’s lyrics. If you’ve never listened to him, you really should. You won’t be disappointed. I’ve only copied some of the lyrics of this track below. I wanted to highlight the parts that will inspire us to action. In order to get confident we’ve got to wake up to the important things that affect our state of mind – thus our confidence.

Bob Marley’s Wake Up And Live Lyrics (edited for the parts I want to use for this article)

Life is one big road with lots of signs,
So when you riding through the ruts, don’t you complicate your mind:
Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy!
Don’t bury your thoughts; put your vision to reality, yeah!…

…Rise ye mighty people, ye-ah!
There’s work to be done,
So let’s do it-a little by little.

Get confident! Wake up and live

So, let’s see what Bob Marley said about achieving our goals. You’ve decided that you want to be more confident. Before you take positive action, there are some things you need to flee (or remove) from your life because they’re holding you back from achieving confidence. Here are some confident lessons from this song.

Get confident by realising you have a choice

‘Life is one big road with lots of signs’. You have a choice to take confidence into your own hand. Use it, hold it and keep it. Check out this article for some ideas on how to do this. To get confident, you have to drop the baggage you’ve been carrying, the baggage which convinces you that you can’t rise above your past and achieve anything because your background won’t let you, or you’re too fat, too thin, or too dumb to achieve anything. You have a choice in how you get confident. No one else determines that for you. Once you believe this, you’ll be on the road to building your confidence.

Get confident by realising that getting there is a journey, and will not happen overnight

‘So when you riding through the ruts, don’t you complicate your mind’. You won’t get confident overnight. Confidence is a road which will be travelled slowly but surely. Sure, you’ll hit the ruts. But you’ll also hit the highs. Practice confidence-building techniques daily. Don’t let up. The only way to build your confidence stronger is by getting up each time you’re knocked back. Don’t fill your mind with doubts. This will only complicate things and make your journey much more painful, longer and harder.

Get confident through positivity

‘Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy! Don’t bury your thoughts; put your vision to reality, yeah!’ Hit the doubts with positivity. Tell yourself you can do it! Don’t harbour bad feelings about those who’ve worked hard at crushing confidence. These bad feelings hurt only you. Hurting yourself over and over means that you’ve given your tormentors the winning ticket. You’ve given them your unreserved permission to hurt you over and over again. They wanted you to fail, and look, you’re failing. So once you get rid of bad thoughts about the people in your past (or present) who’ve caused you to feel less confident about yourself, you can start to achieve your dreams whether they’re building confidence, boosting your body confidence or just restoring faith in yourself.

Get confident by pressing onwards, always

‘There’s work to be done, So let’s do it-a little by little’. And this is just what building confidence is all about. You will get confident only of you keep at it constantly. Practice it in your life. Use confidence-building aides. Read books and hang around positive people. Being surrounded by positive confidence-building prompts (like the ones I’ve just mentioned) will ensure you’re always working at it and towards it without negative elements in life to bring you down.

Get confident: conclusion

I think a lot of people may feel stuck because of their lack of confidence. These are awesome tips to get up and start living the life you got. This falls under the “being happy with what you’ve got.”
