Confident quotes for happiness

Be content to say, ‘I don’t know’ from time to time.  The day you know all the answers is the day your life becomes a mere existence.

Every day, do one thing for your spouse that you think is too much trouble.

Don’t stress if you don’t know what you want to do with the rest of your life.  The days of picking a career and sticking to it are long gone, as a ‘job for life contract’ is virtually non-existent. Isn’t variety the spice of life?

You’re not as fat as your mirror says you are.

When you meet an elderly person, listen, don’t talk.

A broken heart heals with time, a broken heart heals with time, a broken heart heals with time.

Be pleased that you don’t have everything you want.  If you did, what would you hope for? What would bring meaning to your life?

Exes are exes for a reason.  Time spent apart from them helps you only to forget the problems, not erase them.

If ‘As long as it makes me happy’ is your motto in life. This is a recipe for unhappiness.

Don’t make your kids your friends until they can go back home to their own place to cool off when you fall out (which all friends invariably do).

If you look at your life as a half empty glass, know that there are many people in the world at this moment who don’t have glasses.

Your kids will remember the time you spent with them, not the money you spent on them.

Not all relationships are meant to last forever.  If yours has come to a natural end, there is nothing left to do but to bury the dead.

Be encouraged when you fail, by the thought that you can only strive for perfection because you aren’t.

The perfect partner you dream of in your head, is only perfect because they’re in your head. In real life we love in spite of imperfections.

Be patient with other people’s mistakes, as tomorrow it will be your turn to mess up.

Practise probably won’t make you perfect, but it will get you close enough to succeed (and you’ll learn something new in the interim).

It is possible for anyone (you) to attain genius. We just have to work a lot harder than obvious geniuses do.

These confident quotes for happiness have kept me sane because I’ve learned most of them the hard way. What have you learned the hard way? Hey Anne – you know I love quotes and I can always count on you to share a few new to me. Had to laugh at the one about how kids will remember the time you spent on them not the money. It really is so true -but what it made me think about was my (late) aunt and uncle who lived in NY. Growing up ever summer my dad would drive the family across country to visit his family in New York. To this day the only enduring memory of my aunt and uncle is that after that long drive there were no hugs or kisses – just a wad of dollar bills shoved in my hands. Guess that was the only way they knew to show they cared.

Thanks, Marty. That’s sad but a bit funny too. Some people do have a problem with hugging, don’t they? I wasn’t hugged as a child, but I still hug my kids. Like everything else, you can learn to do it 🙂

Lots of solid relationship wisdom in this post:

“Exes are exes for a reason. Time spent apart from them helps you only to forget the problems, not erase them.” – Whenever people get back together with their exes, it like dying at the same spot over and over in Super Mario Bros.

“Not all relationships are meant to last forever. If yours has come to a natural end, there is nothing left to do but to bury the dead.” – As we like to say, tag the toe, close the drawer and charge ’em to the Game.

    Be Amazing,
    JR

You’re welcome, Deanne. These are all lessons I’ve learned, yet I always have to remind myself of them because I tend to forget when I allow other things to get in the way.
